It was a series of haphazard serendipitous events that led me to
Los Angeles currently doing what I enjoy love.

You can say it all started in New York City where my first job was an Intern at Vibe Magazine, but my love for design and building brands goes back way before that.

Born in the South
Raised in the Midwest

As a product of creative parents with southern roots, I’ve been eating biscuits & gravy and doodling off the wall ideas most of my life. My summers were spent either in the kitchen with my dad at Disney or hanging with my mom learning to draw and paint random still life items around the house (including the family dog).
This love for the arts soon turned into a career during my teen years after falling in love with a graphic design course at high school in small town Indiana.

Four years after this lovestruck moment I graduated from the School of Art & Design at the University of Florida where I spent 4 years not only learning whom I was as a visual artist and designer, but more importanly plotting my next move.

This move would eventually lead me to NYC right out of college where I slept on friend’s couches and rentlessly emailed the Art Director of Vibe Magazine for an internship during the summer right after graduation. After 5 emails and 1 interview later I finally landed the internship and just like that my design career had begun with daily early morning subway rides on the 4 Train to Lex Ave. After three years of hustle & exploration in the Big Apple working for the likes of Vibe, Complex, and Time Magazine as a freelance designer, I decided to pack my portfolio and move to LA where I've been for over a decade now helping brands and restaurants bring their visions to life.

Design
Over the last 12 years in LA I've found my greatest joy comes from helping passionate founders and startups build their brands and digital products. Prior to founding Original Thought - an LA based design agency that helps brand and design digital products for startups & companies such as Air + Style, Dosist, Pluto TV, amongst others, I had the pleasure of working as a freelance AD & Designer for the likes of Google, Apple, and TBWA\MAL helping launch the online & tablet experience for the inaugural Apple iTunes Music Festival at SXSW.

Hospitality
Five years ago I had the opportunity to come aboard and lead the brand development for a local restaurant here in Venice Beach called, LEONA. It was true love and eye opening for me as a Creative Director and Designer. As opportunity would have and present itself again, two years after the LEONA project I partnered with PASTEL Hospitality on the opening of another Venice Beach restaurant called Neighbor - where I worked hand in hand w/ a stellar team of professionals across the board on building the brand & experience.

Currently

I currently work as an Independent Creative Director & Designer for hire, where my focus is on the design and product development for our portfolio companies. When I'm not creating, you can find me with friends and family traveling the Southern Hemisphere. I keep myself steady inspired through travel and human connection. Years ago I coined the term the "90-Day Vacay" which encourages myself and even YOU to take small road trips or breathers every 90 days to regain focus and creative inspiration.
